Printmaking can be a huge production with elementary age students, as there are so many materials, steps, and ways to get SUPER messy!
I've streamlined this process for my students and piloted our classroom set of gelli plates with grades 3-6. After learning a bit about the plates, I think it would be easy to adapt for grades 1-2 as well.
Using lots of visual organizers and demos let students internalize the process so it becomes habit and they can then get into the flow of the experience. You can check out our process in the presentation below:
